Healing Through Art
In August 2023, I was admitted to Sisters of Charity Hospital at 30 weeks pregnant after a challenging couple of weeks. During my stay in the Mother Baby Unit, I received exceptional care from the dedicated staff, which inspired me to express my emotions through art.I created heartwarming pieces depicting loving buffalo parents with their calves, symbolizing the bond between mother and child. With the generous support of Trusted Nursing Staffing and the Sisters Hospital Foundation, my artwork is now being installed in each room of the Mother Baby Unit. This initiative aims to create a positive and inspiring environment for mothers and families, celebrating life’s miracles and the healing power of love. I hope that these artworks provide comfort and connection to future families. WKBW STORY
The Journey to Casey: Part One
The arrival of Casey on September 27, 2023, was a testament to resilience and hope amidst challenges. Following over a year of fertility treatments including multiple IVF cycles and surgery for endometriosis, the journey to parenthood was fraught with emotional ups and downs. Despite setbacks like recurring scarring and low hormone levels, the couple remained determined, encouraged by past experiences of pregnancy. Their final IVF attempt in January yielded promising results, leading to a successful pregnancy just before the narrator's 39th birthday. The process underscored the importance of patience and gratitude, as the couple navigated the complex emotions of hope and anxiety, ultimately feeling incredibly fortunate for Casey's arrival.
